Me and the monkey are hanging in there.

Today was a very cultural day for me. It started off with a trip to the BBC. I was very excited this morning about getting to go to the headquarters of the one and only BBC. Well sadly, I was very disappointed. The BBC 'behind the scenes' tour wasn't really behind the scenes at all. They basically showed up their three studios (from an observation room) and a conference room in their news hub. That was it. I wanted to see everything, people running around, guests coming to be interviewed, lights and cameras going up. I mean I'll give it to them that January is a slow month for television, but still I should have been able to see more. Also I guess that it didn't help that I already knew a lot of the stuff that they were saying on the tour. They were discussing the lighting grids in the studios and things like that. I did learn something interesting though. The BBC Television Centre is built in the shape of a giant question mark. I'm going to try and find out if we can so to the BBC Broadcasting House in Oxford Circus so we can get a picture with the bust of John Reith so we can send it to an old professor back in Boston. The internet is such a great thing, you can find almost anything on there.
Back on track now. After the disappointing BBC tour I went to Oxford Circus with Samia and Anais so they could buy some clothes at TOPSHOP. Then we had lunch at Garfunkel's. I had a nice American Cheeseburger and tasty fries. The burger was alright, nothing like you would get back home though. Next it was off to the Victoria and Albert Museum,( http://www.vam.ac.uk/ ) which is really right down the street from where I am living. It was beautiful. We spent about 3 hours there and didn't get to see everything. They have some great stuff there. There is an entire gallery dedicated to textiles and fashion and it's just great. They have categories like, the male suit, the evening gown, the undergarments etc. and they have pieces spanning across hundreds of years showing the progression. It was amazing to see the things women would wear, and all the devices they would use to push themselves up and prop themselves out. I will be heading back to the museum at some point so I can see the rest of everything.
Cheers!
